The buddy walk benefits Down Syndrome Awareness and inclusion. My nephew Rhett was born in January with Down's Syndrome. This year was the first year that he would assemble a team to walk and raise money for the cause.
I am so proud of my sister, she has done things she probably never dreamed of since having Rhett! She and her in-laws made some calls and talked to some pretty amazing people who helped them get a benefit together and raise over $40,000 for Rhett's team (Rhett's Roadies.) It has been amazing to see so many people who care about Rhett Mattie and Jerad come together to make some pretty incredible things happen.
WE have all learned a lot this year.
Rhett has been the best gift our family could receive and we are all thankful to know him and have him in our lives. This kid is destined to do a-mazing things!
In all the team raised over $50,000 for the Buddy Walk. This money promotes research and provides income to a local school for Down Syndrome people!
This was our first Buddy Walk to attend and the day could not have been more perfect. They have a carnival type set up for kids and that was perfect because it also happened to fall on Hudson's birthday. Hudson and my dad (Pop) both share a birthday on October 15th. The weather was perfect and the day was just a lot of fun in general. There were games, and little activities, bounce houses and more.
Here are just a few pictures of us getting ready to walk...
